Welcome to WormGro
Our story is the story of Irish farming
Irish farmers produce the best food in the world. They do that because they personally look after their animals and their land. The animals live in fields during the summer and for the winter, the farmer takes them into sheds and feeds them, often by hand.
The farmer must live in the real world and compete against rivals who operate huge farms and whose only motivator is cash. That means that the Irish farmer struggles against the weather on the one hand and the market price on the other.
It’s all very well to say that the Irish farmer must comply with new Regulations limiting the amount of fertilizer he spreads on the land, but he also must provide for his family by producing enough product to feed his animals and sell the finished article for a low enough price to compete with the world market.
We’re from a business & farming background and we looked for a way to produce a product from the leftovers of farming and turn that into a useful product that saves the farmer money and replenishes the land at the same time.
Our Wormcast will do that

Frequently asked questions
What is Vermiculture?
Vermiculture is the practice of raising earthworms, typically for the purpose of composting organic waste materials and producing nutrient-rich vermicompost. It involves the controlled cultivation and management of earthworm populations within a designated environment, such as a composting bin or vermicomposting facility.
What is WormGro?
Wormgro is our name for wormcasts, often termed “vermicasts,” which are small mounds of soil excreted by earthworms. They result from the digestive processes of the worms, where organic matter ingested by the worms is broken down and mixed with soil particles. This intricate process enhances soil structure, porosity, and fertility.
The composition of wormcasts differs significantly from the surrounding soil. They are richer in essential nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, along with beneficial microorganisms. Consequently, wormcasts act as nutrient-rich hotspots within the soil, promoting plant growth and enhancing overall ecosystem productivity.
Beyond nutrient enrichment, wormcasts play a vital role in soil aeration and water infiltration. The burrowing activities of earthworms create channels within the soil, facilitating better air and water movement. This enhances soil drainage, reduces compaction, and mitigates erosion, thereby promoting soil stability and resilience.
Moreover, wormcasts contribute to carbon sequestration and soil carbon storage. The organic matter processed by earthworms is incorporated into the soil, aiding in the formation of stable soil
aggregates and long-term carbon retention. This not only mitigates greenhouse gas emissions but also fosters soil fertility and sustainability.
In agricultural and gardening practices, wormcasts are highly prized for their beneficial properties. They are utilized as organic fertilizers and soil conditioners, promoting healthy plant growth while reducing the need for synthetic inputs. Additionally, wormcasts serve as indicators of soil health, reflecting the presence of active earthworm populations and a thriving soil ecosystem.
What is Wormgro extract?
Wormgro Extract is a tea we make from Wormgro. It is made by inoculating water with our Wormgro, under controlled conditions, to release the microbes in the wormcast into the liquid. It makes the microbes much more available to the plant and greatly enhances the opportunity for the plant to take up the nutrients in the soil around it.
